Hunger tsunami

Soaring food prices, food hoarding, and the resulting riots in Africa and Asia leave us in no doubt that there is a global food shortage, “A silent tsunami which knows no borders is sweeping the world,” says Josette Sheeran, the head of the UN World Food Programme (WFP). Price hikes will push 100 million people deeper into poverty, says the World Bank.
